On this same day, 14 years ago, I was a little 3rd grader sitting in class doing classwork. All of a sudden the principal was taking over the loudspeakers announcing something terrible happening in the city. At the age of 6 years old, my classmates and I wasn’t aware of what was going on. One by one parents were coming in picking up their kids. So much was going on yet no one understood what exactly was happening.
I was one of the few students that were still waiting in class for our parents to pick us up. As soon as I got picked up, my mom was telling me that the Twin Towers had fallen. Just to realize that it was just a few months back, I visited them. I was still yet not fully aware of what the big deal was until we got home and turned on the news.
Watching the plane crash into the towers was heartbreaking. I remember sitting there wondering how this world could be so cruel. Why did innocent people have to be taken away? It wasn’t fair. It was a horrible tragedy that happened that would stick to our nation for the rest of time.
Today, 14 years later we remember the innocent lives, brave souls and those who lost a loved one and pray for them.
“Land of the free. Home of the Brave. Generations from now, no matter the trial, no matter the challenge, America will always be America.”
God Bless America ♥
